About Craig 

Craig Freshley is a professional meeting facilitator, speaker, trainer, and author with an inspiring attitude and a well-earned reputation for helping groups be efficient, harmonious, and productive.

In September, 2022, Craig’s third book was published: Together We Decide, An Essential Guide for Making Good Group Decisions. The book was a #1 New Release and Top-10 Best Seller on Amazon in several categories. “It’s packed with a wealth of inspiring ideas and practical information,” said Kirkus Reviews.

In 2019 Craig won the American Civic Collaboration Award for creating and facilitating Make Shift Coffee Houses: face-to-face places where conservatives, liberals, and all kinds of people meet to talk and understand each other’s political views. Craig was a founder of Sustainable Maine in 1996, Two Echo Cohousing Community in 1997, the Maine Downtown Center in 1999, GrowSmart Maine in 2002, and his company Good Group Decisions in 2003. In between college and graduate school Craig founded and operated a bike messenger service in Portland called Intown Courier.

Craig has professionally facilitated over 3,000 meetings where he has helped groups make good decisions. Read what some of them have to say. Craig’s insights and skills help groups achieve new and unimagined levels of efficiency, peace, and productivity. He has written and produced hundreds of one-page Good Group Tips and How-To Videos that he makes freely available to subscribers and followers. He has written a book called The Wisdom of Group Decisions.

Craig has Bachelors degrees in Political Science and Philosophy from the University of Maine, and a Masters Degree in Public Policy and Management from the Muskie School for Public Service. In addition to working for himself he has worked for the Maine State Planning Office and for the Maine Development Foundation. Here is a list of publications.

Craig lives with his wife in a cohousing community where they raised two girls (along with goats, sheep, chickens, a donkey, a pig, and the family dog). Craig is a Quaker which basically means that he looks for good in every person.

Established by Craig Freshley in 2003, Good Group Decisions has served hundreds of clients with meeting facilitation, keynotes, training seminars, mediation, and strategic planning. The company is also the publisher of Craig’s books and hundreds of Good Group Tips written by Craig.

A values-based company, we are interested in more than making money and serving clients. We strive to make the world a better place. We give 1% of all gross revenue to charity. We volunteer our time to charitable causes. We have high standards for recycling and energy efficiency.

When COVID hit in March, 2020 the company had 5 employees. Now it’s pretty much just Craig and a network of contractors.

We are based in downtown Brunswick, Maine.
