Craig always tries to match the room set up to the purposes of the meeting. In this particular meeting, the discussion will be among just six people but another twelve people will observe and everyone wants to see the screen!
Come along with Craig as he explains this very unique room set up.
Here are two other videos that Craig has made about meeting room set ups: Meeting Room Set Up Demonstration Video and Meeting Room First Impressions Matter.
And here is a handy two-page guide: Meeting Room Setup for Max Effectiveness.
Here’s what Craig says in the video
Hi everybody. Hey it’s Craig Freshley here. I’m about to facilitate a meeting in this room and it’s a pretty unique setup, so I wanted to tell you a little bit about it.
First of all, can you see that we have two long tables here? These are for dinner. You know, it works really well when we meet in one place and eat in another place. And it also works really well for people to be able to sit across from each other and have dinner.
So we’re going to meet over here. Come on down. We’re going to meet here but we’re going to take a break for dinner here.
Now this is going to be a meeting of the Cumberland County Commissioners. There are five commissioners, plus the County Manager. We have six seats at the table. Notice how they are across from each other and that is so all of the staff can sit here. This is a meeting of Commissioners. They need to be able to talk freely amongst themselves but it’s also very helpful for the lead staff to be able to witness what they talk about and be available should they have any questions.
I’m going to be up here, as the neutral facilitator, and I’m going to take a lot of notes right up here on the screen. You can see my agenda over here in the corner.
This is what I call the green wall. I’m going to ask these Commissioners, “What do you think are the priorities that we should work on for the next year?” They are going to write their ideas with markers and we are going to stick them on the wall. We are going to organize them however they want them to be organized, and we are going to have a discussion and decide what should be the future priorities.
So I don’t know, maybe we’ll take another look at the whole set up here. Thanks for helping me film Amy! She’s going to stand in the corner so we can see the whole room.
And here’s hoping that you help your group make good decisions. Thanks a lot everybody.
